Separated Parents Information Programme
The Separated Parents Information Programme is NOT a parenting course: it does not tell parents how to bring up their children or try to educate them about general children’s issues. It is designed to help parents provide the best parenting they can for their children when they no longer live together. It provides space for parents to consider what the impact of separation has on their parenting role and considers ways in which children might respond to it.
Both parents attend the programme but are never there together.
The programme focuses on some key areas:
- The legal, financial and emotional implications of divorce on you as an individual. It happens to lots of people but affects everyone in a different way. What has it meant in your life?
- Understanding how your children perceive and are affected by your divorce. How they might respond and how you as parents might support them
- Communicating with your ex, your children’s other parent. Working on some do’s and don’t’s, and hints for making it work in your children’s interests.
At present, attendance on these programmes is restricted to those ordered by the Court to undertake them. If you are interested in this course please contact Stephanie Shaw on 02392 717488 for more information about them, or speak to your solicitor about it.
